Spotlight: The Frog Palace

Our charming Homestay!

Our charming Home-stay!

When I found out that our good friends were coming to San Luis Obispo for their wedding anniversary, I spent lots of time trying to find a place for them and for my husband and I.  Their budget was a little bigger than ours, and during the summer months it proved difficult to find a place that fit our needs.

Enter The Frog Palace, located in Cambria and just a short drive North puts you into town.  Nestled in a quiet residential community and surrounded by expansive fields and towering trees, this pleasant Home-stay is a charming get-a-way to literally get away from it all.  We stayed in the Queen Room, a lovely little spot with a fireplace and our own private bathroom, and located just across from our own little kitchen.  We even had a small area outside to read, and enjoy the birds flying through the trees.  It was so refreshing and relaxing.  And did I mention the fabulous hot-tub?

Breakfast is served between 8 and 9, and what a scrumptious meal we had!  Eggs, turkey sausage, coffee cake, and wonderful conversation with the owners.  Since it is just a small place (the other room has 2 double beds, perfect for friends traveling together), you get the opportunity to really know people who have lived in Cambria for a long time and learn more about the area.  We loved every minute of our stay here, including the price!  Each room is $95 a night (year-round), including tax.

With fantastic food and company within a relaxing setting, I’m considering staying here again next month when some girlfriends and I head up in late September for a girls weekend and Kelsey Winery’s annual member party!
